Alice In Wonderland

Aleesha & Marv

Nestling in a woodland corner of Northern Hampshire, the gardens of West Green House surround one of the prettiest manor houses in England. It is a garden with a special and distinctive sense of place created over two decades by Marylyn Abbott a renowned Australian garden designer whose twin passions for English Gardens and International Opera have created a unique environment.

The vintage inspiration utilised the colours found in the garden, especially greens, with gold accents and the red from the playing cards from the original book and 1951 Disney film.

West Green House Gardens is a truly special space that emulates the quintessential English country garden. West Green includes a fabulous glass greenhouse, walled garden and a number of other courtyard gardens featuring a topiary chess grid and teapot. Finally, a substantial field of daffodils and fritillaries with a romantic path that leads to a lake and bridge with pavilion set on the adjoining island.

We wanted a location that would have many different spaces to emulate the many different places that Alice visits in the book and 1951 Disney film, where she is constantly surrounded by flowers and wildlife.
